Policies and Self Scheduling

Welcome to my vocal studio.

As a performing artist it is my philosophy that a solid foundation in vocal technique is the way to freedom of expression and vocal longevity.

In the studio the student will learn a precise vocal technique taught to me by Jane Randolph, which emphasizes the principles of alignment, breath and vowel. This way of singing is intended to free the authentic voice and encourage ease, health, and beauty in the vocal production.

Lessons will include warm up exercises and application of the technique to vocal repertoire (Aria, Art Songs, Jazz, Musical Theatre, etc.). Lessons will also include some work on diction as well as musical and dramatic interpretation. Some lessons will consist only of warm up exercises and some lessons will include work on one or more songs.

Students are expected to bring two copies of their music to each lesson. When taking online lessons, please email your music in advance of the lesson.

It is HIGHLY recommended and to the singer’s advantage to work with a pianist on a regular basis. I do not accompany lessons but have an accompanist who is available upon request (email me a week before). You are always welcome to bring your own pianist to lessons. For online lessons, you may use a prerecorded accompaniment preferably by your favorite pianist or from an app such as Appcompanist. It is not required that you have accompaniment.

When taking a sample lesson for the first time, please arrive warmed up and prepared to sing a piece you know well, preferably from memory.

Policies and Self-Scheduling

* Lessons are given in person at my San Francisco Studio or online. Please email me for the street address. Students are welcomed to take online lessons using Zoom or FaceTime. For in person lessons, enter through the ground level door, remove your shoes, and wait in the entry way until it is time for your lesson. For FaceTime lessons, I will call you. For Zoom, click on the link generated in your confirmation email.

*The link for self scheduling lessons is https://calendly.com/gundunasvocalstudio/voice-lesson (Please do not sign up here before you have emailed me to inquire about lessons.)

When scheduling your lesson please indicate if you will be taking the lesson in person or online and which platform you will be using.

*Do not cancel or reschedule your voice lesson any later than 24 hours before your scheduled start time. If you must cancel because of an emergency or sudden illness, please call or text me at (415) 568-6555.

*Do not attend the in-person lesson if you are ill. If you think you might be getting sick or are feeling a little “under the weather” but can still sing, please do not attend in person lessons but let me know if you want an online lesson instead.

*If you will be late, text me at (415) 568-6555. If I am running late, I will give you a complete 45 minute lesson. If you arrive late, your lesson will end when it was originally supposed to end.

*If you or I must cancel a class, you are responsible for scheduling the make-up lesson. Make- up lessons must be scheduled within 60 days of the missed lesson.

*I am also a performing artist and may have to reschedule your lesson due to a performance or other professional commitment.
